The theatres have recently opened in Maryland so I was able to go and see Tenet this weekend. I really missed the experience of watching movies in a theater so I couldn’t wait to go.
Tenet (2020) is an action, thriller, spy-fi all wrapped in one movie. It was quite an experience. Tenet was written and directed by Christopher Nolan. It took Nolan more than 10 years to develop the idea and it took him more than five years to write the screenplay for Tenet. The film stars John David Washington as an unnamed CIA agent who goes by “The Protagonist” and Robert Pattinson as Neil. The duo must work together to control the flow of time in order prevent World War III from happening.

Before I went to see this movie I didn’t really know what to expect. I saw a lot of mixed reviews on social media. However, when I went to see it I was really intrigued throughout the two-and-a-half-hour duration of the movie. I barely looked at my phone and that says a lot because I’m pretty much addicted to my phone (lol). Needless to say, this movie was good in my opinion. There was a lot to digest and a lot to miss if you weren’t giving the movie your undivided attention.

I liked how the movie fed into the theory that time traveling is a thing. Also, I kept thinking about how a lot of things that were happening in the movie were occurring in plain sight, but the average person wouldn’t catch it or be able to make sense of it. The concept of inversion was really interesting especially seeing how different timelines were all intertwined together whether they were days or years apart. Another interesting thing is that the word “tenet” holds a lot of power. It was referred to as a word that can figuratively and literally open doors.. Sometimes the wrong ones.
Tenet is one of those movies that you have to watch a second or third time to catch all the things you missed the first time so I’ll definitely watch this again when it’s available to stream from home.
